CABARET NOIR THE MUSICAL is a musical cabaret based on the interdisciplinary show of
the same name, created and idealized by Mélanie Demers and her company MAYDAY, in collaboration with six performers. This time, the performers on stage will be accompanied by a musical ensemble led by Florence Blain Mbaye. This cabaret celebrates contemporary Afro-descendant voices while drawing inspiration from the writings of great authors such as James Baldwin, Bell Hooks, Frantz Fanon, and Toni Morrison, addressing themes of identity and social justice. Also featuring is the launch party for the EP produced and directed by Florence Blain Mbaye and recorded at the Hotel 2 Tango studio. The resulting album project enriches the theatrical experience by offering a musical diversity ranging from Negro spirituals, soul, and hip-hop.
